The project is located in the bordering city of Chiasso, entrace to Switzerland from Italy, theme of the 2020 Mendrisio Diploma. Located near the city center and the station, forms part of a larger urban intervention designed by the Q. Miller atelier which planned to redesign the urban center of Chiasso. In this common intervention, the project conforms a cluster of public infraestructures along the train tracks reinforced by the new pedestrian bridge connecting the two sides of the city. The proposal consists of a concrete plynth acting as a damp that redirects the flow of traffic towards the park. It strives to be perceived as a building, as it is only a water surface, a marsh, that offers a new elevated relation to the train tracks, as well as harbour a new swimming complex that regenerates the water spilled thanks to its hydrobotanic pond. The introverted character of the floorplan follows the focused mentality of professional swimmers, focusing on the magic of gliding 50m in the water over and over, illuminated by the translucent skylights.
