Tony Fretton British Embassy Warsaw

Date: April 11, 2011

Located on the edge of a park in the new embassy district of the city of Warsaw, the building has a serene and simple form with glazed facades on all sides. The ground floor is reserved for public activities and features a large exhibition space with an adjoining restaurant, and a consular and visa section with separate entrance. The floors above accommodate private workspaces and ambassadorial functions.

The building as a whole is enclosed by a double façade, which provides thermal insulation in winter and acts as a chimney to exhaust heat in the summer. this solution addresses the tight security requirements of the brief without compromising the high level of fenestration.
