In a high-density area of Barcelona’s Gràcia district, the Josep Maria Jujol school is built on a plot between plain dividing walls. The block’s inner patio contains the warehouses of the old Mañach workshops (1916), built by the architect Josep Maria Jujol. Given the lack of space, this project would also be multi-storey, in line with the street of Riera de Sant Miquel. It would take up all of the available land and, therefore, close up the block. The obligatory sports court is placed on the roof, while the floor plan is easily adapted to fit the brief, and a passage on the ground floor allows access towards the Jujol warehouses. Both the interior and exterior are clad in brick, but the windows are covered in fine pieces of artificial stone, creating windows divided into three sections, fitting the width of the blinds.

The new façades of Jujol’s factory, separated from the school by the cutting-off of two bays, are shored to make them permeable. It is also painted in the architect’s favourite colours, much like an objet trouvé in the middle of the patio.
