Built on the site of the old Can Miró farmhouse, the building of the Postgraduate School and the Doctoral School fuses tradition and modernity in order to offer facilities specifically designed for postgraduate training within the framework of the UAB campus.
With this in mind, a new annex building was built next to the old farmhouse, integrating both into a unified complex designed by the prestigious architect Eduard Bru. The solution: to raise the new structure below the level of Can Miró, adapting it to the irregularities of the terrain and resulting in a plinth of hard materials and large dimensions. The curvilinear layout gives the new building a very notable formal agility, while contrasting with the simplicity of the lines of the farmhouse and drawing visual attention to it.
