(About HUNCH)
HUNCH is a design and experimentation office set in Barcelona and working worldwide that combines the creation of capsule collections with material investigation work and projects in Design, Art Direction, Research and Consulting services. Founded by Saúl Baeza and Raquel Llaberia, both Industrial Designers, after studying at different international universities such as the California College of the Arts (San Francisco), Università Degli Studi di Firenze (Firenze) or Winchester School of Arts – Southampton University (Southampton), their final degree project — done in 2013 at ELISAVA School of Design and Engineering of Barcelona -, based on textile research, resulted in the creation of a new material made of sheep wool fibres. The project was exhibited in the “Salone del Mobile” of Milan in 2014; it was selected to participate in the exhibition “Design’s Best of Year”, curated by the FAD Association in DHUB (Barcelona). The project was also selected as 1 of the 10 best project candidates for the ADI 2014 award, given by the ADI-FAD Association (Spain). Nowadays, the new material is being investigated with the collaboration of Materfad (Barcelona Material investigation centre).
As a result of the textile investigations made and the growing interest for the fashion and its possibilities, HUNCH decided to take a step forward and release their first collection for FW15 season, called “Alpine Basics Capsule”. The collection, all unisex and 100% waterproof, has had a very positive reception and the waterproof photography book produced for the collection and called “What If It Snows”, which has been done in mineral dust paper, has recently won a Silver Laus Adward from the Adg-Fad association.
Recently, HUNCH has been selected amongst more than 1,000 brands to be part of the “Future of Fashion Program” inside the Who’s Next Paris event, where their new SS16 collection called “Nowhere” will be for display the next September.
