|Evolución de la ciudad: LISBOA|
The pools project gives the opportunity to think and reflect on the relationship between the city and the river, becoming part of a system of public infrastructure laid along the park. This approach introduces an element of urban reference, by locating a public building at one extreme between land and water, framed by the cityscape and the riverscape. The duality between these elements(volumes) accentuates the search for the building’s formal language. The program is divided between open and enclosed, a covered pool for competition and an open pool for play. Likewise, the building accentuates the duality between volume and empty space, rigorously keeping the geometry that gives its character to the main element: the water vase that structures the space, and the building’s perimeter between opacity and transparency. The city and the river are reborn, intentionally framed within the building, intensifying and synthesizing their presence. The project also shows an effective research and knowledge development departing from the experience of contemporary Portuguese architecture and its transversality.
